Saw him in the parade ring at Newbury in the early nineties along with his horse Minnehoma who went on to win the National in 94.
Always remember when the bell rang for the jockeys to mount, he held his fists up and started sparring.

He was always take it or leave it for me, never a must-watch act.

That being said, I watched the clip with Shirley Bassey earlier and it had me in absolute stitches (her eventual corpse the icing on the cake).

It was puerile, it was hormone-infected schoolboy humour, but it was perfectly crafted and choreographed as the very last scene showed.

It was also a perfect snowflake magnet.

LeeTrundle I remembered that somewhere and somebody posted this on twitter when Starr died

RIP Freddie Starr. In 1981 Parkinson put him and Muhammad Ali on the same show, and Ali was so impressed that he invited Starr to become part of his entourage for the rest of his trip.

Saw Freddie Starr at Great Yarmouth pavilion, great timing and very funny.

My all time favourite comedian is Jackie Mason.

Re: Freddie Starr: Was anyone on here a fan?
Debs.

It's nailed on that the same snowflake cunts who were doing their nut at J K Rowling for daring to suggest that people who mensurate are called women would be up in arms if a weekly tv show featured a bloke dressed up and acting as a woman.

This of course would be excused if it were stressed that it was some sort of trans programme but straight up drag? No chance, the twitter gestapo would be all over it.

Loads of men have impersonated women and it happens every year in panto (except this year of course), not sure anyone would have taken any notice. Les Dawson did it too, and was much funnier.

My old mum loved Freddie Starr, and seeing her crack.up.laughing at him.was infectious, so yes i loked him

I can't find it online anywhere, but I swear I read somewhere that Muhammad Ali found him so funny after their appearance on TV together, that he invited him along with the him and the rest of his entourage as an unofficial entertainer for his trip.

Did black face with a pair of high denier tights on his head.

It was a different time. Found him funny a lot of work went into a seemingly random, chaotic act.
